A little more about us...
We are Lisa and Kevin Watermeyer. We have raised our children Hannah and Peter in the Karoo and we would love to share the beauty and tranquility of our Karoo sanctuary with others.
Grootklip Getaway is situated roughly about 31km outside of the picturesque little village of Nieu-Bethesda.
Nieu-Bethesda is at the foot of the Sneeuberge along the banks of the Sundays River. The village falls into the Cacadu District of the Eastern Cape and is approximately 68 kilometres (31 min) from Graaff-Reinet.
The area is also part of the the semi-arid Great Karoo climactic region at an altitude of 1350m, above sea level.
It has hot summers and cold winters. In South Africa, the summer and winter months are opposite to those in the Northern Hemisphere. Summers in Nieu Bethesda run between end of October and March.
The outdoor surroundings that guests are welcome to enjoy include lots of space to hike, cycle, walk and explore. You may see Nguni cattle, kudu, springbuck, vaal rhebok, steenbok and many bird species. The farm water comes from a natural fountain and is drinkable and pure.
